Albro Lundy Appointed to LMU Loyola Law School Board of Directors

Baker, Burton & Lundy is proud to announce that partner and trial lawyer Albro L. Lundy III has been appointed to the LMU Loyola Law School Board of Directors.

The Board serves in an advisory role, providing counsel to the dean and senior administration as they guide the law school’s mission, priorities, and future. Albro will attend his first meeting in October.

When Brietta R. Clark, the Fritz B. Burns Dean of LMU Loyola Law School, began considering Albro for the Board, she saw someone whose contributions extended well beyond his professional accomplishments.

“Albro is the whole package,” Clark said. “He does so much to support people both professionally and personally.”

After speaking with Albro, Clark said it was clear that he was deeply committed to Loyola’s mission and would be an excellent fit for the Board.

For Albro, the appointment deepens a relationship with Loyola that spans two generations. His mother, Johanna Lundy, graduated from Loyola Law School in 1975 after attending its evening program while raising six children as a single parent. Her husband, a fighter pilot, had been reported missing in action during the Vietnam War, leaving her to rebuild her life and provide for her family amid tremendous uncertainty.

Albro remembers falling asleep to the sound of his mother working late into the night on an old mechanical typewriter—and waking one morning to her screams of joy after she learned she had passed the bar exam on her first attempt.

Johanna went on to build a successful legal career, despite entering a profession in which women routinely faced discrimination and harrassment. Albro later followed in her footsteps, earning his law degree from Loyola in 1985.

Decades later, the Lundy family established the Johanna Lundy Memorial Scholarship in her honor. The endowed scholarship supports students in Loyola’s J.D. Evening Program, with preference given to single parents. It is a fitting tribute to a woman whose determination changed the course of her family’s life, and a practical way to help other students accomplish what may once have seemed impossible.

The appointment follows another meaningful recognition from Loyola. Albro received the Order of the Coif, one of the legal profession’s most distinguished academic honors, in 2025.

Throughout more than four decades of practice, Albro has represented clients in complex personal injury, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, civil rights, and business litigation matters. He has secured numerous seven- and eight-figure verdicts and settlements, successfully argued before the California Supreme Court, and was named California Trial Lawyer of the Year for the Consumer Attorneys of California.

But those achievements tell only part of the story.

Albro has also spent decades supporting nonprofit organizations, mentoring others, serving his community, and finding practical ways to help people move forward. His family’s scholarship at Loyola is a particularly personal example: it honors where he came from while creating opportunities for students facing many of the same obstacles his mother once overcame.

Apparently, four decades of practicing law were not enough to keep him busy.

His appointment to Loyola’s Board brings together the qualities that have shaped his career: legal experience, sound judgment, a commitment to service, and a genuine interest in helping the next generation of attorneys succeed.

We congratulate Albro on this well-deserved appointment and look forward to the contributions he will make to Loyola Law School and its students.
