The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our litigation team. This is a full-time, in-office position. The ideal candidate is a recently licensed California attorney, or one with up to three years of civil litigation experience, who is eager to develop their practice in a collegial, high-performing environment.
The Associate will work primarily in a support capacity alongside senior litigation attorneys, handling a broad range of substantive and procedural litigation tasks across our active docket. As the associate’s skills and experience develop, he or she will have the opportunity to manage independently assigned matters from inception through resolution.
Primary Responsibilities
- Draft and respond to discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
- Draft pleadings, motions, and supporting memoranda under attorney supervision
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on substantive and procedural issues
- Review and analyze documents in connection with active litigation matters
- Attend depositions, hearings, and court appearances as needed
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff under attorney supervision
- Potential second chair trial responsibilities
Secondary Responsibilities
- Independently manage assigned civil litigation matters with appropriate oversight
- Develop client relationships and litigation strategy on assigned cases
- Network and develop personal and professional relationships to generate future client base
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the California State Bar (recently admitted candidates strongly encouraged to apply)
- Zero to three years of California civil litigation experience
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines with precision and professionalism
- Familiarity with California Rules of Court and Los Angeles Superior Court local rules preferred
- Residence in or proximity to the South Bay/Hermosa Beach area strongly preferred, given the in-office nature of this position
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: $100,000 to $125,000, commensurate with experience
- Discretionary year-end bonus
